Minister of Budget for Guinea praises Webb Fontaine

At the recent graduation ceremony of the Sourcemind Academy on Wednesday 2nd April, Mr. Facinet Sylla, Guinea’s Minister for Budget, delivered a powerful statement on the country’s digital transformation journey, one that underscores the true impact of innovation and technology on national governance.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sylla addressed the GNF 700 billion (approximately $80 million USD) leak in customs revenue, a loss that placed considerable strain on the country’s financial systems. He announced that this "financial haemorrhage" has now been successfully contained, crediting the turnaround directly to partnering with Webb Fontaine.

Since the implementation of these digital solutions under the Guichet Unique du Commerce Extérieur de Guinée, the Minister highlighted that customs revenue has seen a dramatic upswing, increasing by over 30% to 40% in certain months. "This is a feat that we would not have been able to achieve without the collaboration with Webb Fontaine," he said.

His remarks weren’t just a celebration of progress, they were a call to action for continued investment in digital tools and local talent in Guinea and Africa in general. The setting was symbolic: the first graduation of local software engineers trained at Sourcemind Academy, ready to play their role in Guinea’s growing digital economy.

The presence of public and private sector leaders at the event reinforced the message: digital transformation is no longer a vision, it’s a working reality in Guinea. And as Minister Sylla made clear, technology is not only about innovation; it’s about impact.
