Webb Fontaine implements GUCEG in Guinea to revolutionise trade
The Guinean Single Window for Foreign Trade (GUCEG) was officially launched on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at the Kaloum Hotel in Conakry. Both the Ministry of Budget for the Republic of Guinea and Webb Fontaine express their gratitude to everyone who attended the launch ceremony.
The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Guinea, Professor Alpha Condé. Representatives of international institutions, officials from various ministerial departments and customs, and local entrepreneurs involved in foreign trade attended the ceremony. They were briefed on GUCEG’s expected impact on the national economy. The President remarked, “The Single Window aims at securing the Government’s revenues and is a major breakthrough for the country’s future.”
As a National Interest Project (NIP), GUCEG will enable trade and transport stakeholders to provide standardised information and documents through a single entry point. This system will facilitate swiftness, simplification, dematerialisation, anticipation, and cost reduction related to trade procedures. This cutting-edge technology platform is poised to significantly boost the Guinean government's revenues.
The GUCEG platform is designed to streamline the import, export, and transit processes by offering a unified and efficient digital system. It reduces the complexity and time required for trade-related procedures, thereby enhancing the ease of doing business in Guinea. This modernisation is expected to attract more foreign investment and promote economic growth.
The Ministry of Budget and Webb Fontaine Guinea encourage organisations involved in foreign trade to familiarise themselves with the GUCEG interactive portal. The portal, accessible at www.guceg.gov.gn, offers comprehensive resources and tools for navigating the new system, ensuring that users can maximise the benefits of this innovative trade facilitation tool.
In summary, the launch of GUCEG marks a significant advancement in Guinea's trade infrastructure. The Single Window system is set to transform the way trade is conducted in the country, securing government revenues and fostering economic growth. The collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Budget and Webb Fontaine underscore their commitment to enhancing Guinea's trade capabilities through modern, efficient technology.
