Kathmandu, Nepal, May 10th  2021
: The Nepal Department of Customs organized a virtual MoU signing with five governmental and private organizations for onboarding the Nepal National Single Window project (NNSW).

The Director General of Customs, Mr. Yam Lal Bhusal counter-signed the five MoUs on behalf of Executive Managemnent of NNSW project. The virtual MoU signing exemplified commitment and an innovative approach by the Government of Nepal to execute and have a Business-As-Usual attitude despite the COVID outbreak.

At the end of 2019, The Government of Nepal kicked-off a World Bank funded project for setting up a National Single Window (NNSW) connecting over 40 governmental and private agencies involved in international trade.

Powered by Webb Fontaine’s tried and tested technologies and network solutions, the NNSW system securely integrates a wide range of processes related to the smooth operation of the Trade and Customs cycle involving governmental and private organisations.

The project is strategically aligned with a number of key initiatives, including the World Bank sponsored Nepal India Regional Trade and Transport Project (NIRTTP).

NNSW was launched successfully in early 2021 with 6 Governmental Agencies and is used currently by over 600 companies for their Foreign Trade Licenses and Permits. The onboarding of Agency to NNSW is initiated by the  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Department of Customs as the lead agency. The MoU defines roles and responsibilities of each agency in this ecosystem.
