2016 WCO IT Conference & Exhibition

Webb Fontaine has sponsored and exposed during the 2016 World Customs Organization IT Conference that took place in Dakar, Senegal from 1st to 3rd June 2016.

2016 Conference Objectives

  • Explore implications of the digital world on Customs and other Government agencies in the future.
  • Showcase private sector and Governments’ most recent technological developments that will provide new capabilities and opportunities and impact how Customs facilitates trade and performs its regulatory tasks.
  • Monitor emerging trends, including IT solutions for exchange of information between Customs and between Customs and other agencies.
  • Seek potential areas of synergy amongst relevant stakeholders at national, regional and international level.

Over 750 delegates from Customs, other Regulatory Agencies, private sector, international organizations, development partners, academia and other stakeholders took part in this event.

Webb Fontaine had the honour to chair the panel on Training which sought to identify how knowledge and training can maintain the level of agility in keeping up with the pace at which information technologies progress each day. The panel discussed about gaps in qualifications and skills, the importance of availability of Internet for staff, the use of e-learning modules, chat rooms, social media and networks.
